MUNICH REPORT

Back, after my sourcing trip in Munich-Germany visiting the biggest sport fair in Europe, the ISPO. It was a true color explosion for clothing, accessories and hardware. BRIGHT colors dominating the slopes along with plain fluorescents. If you plan to stand out from the crowd on your wintersport holiday this year..wear colors as accents!

A nice place to crash in the evening is definitely La Baracca, an interesting Italian restaurant that opened it's doors a few years back. The interior is modern versus rustic and even though it's a large place, the dining spaces are very intimate. If they would aim for perfection they should replace the ipad menu for good old hospitality talk.

WOUTER DOLK

Just a week ago when the snow suddenly subsided and a beautiful red sun had risen that early morning, i heard one bird singing very loud at the backside of my studio! It was like being present of the pre-announcement that spring will be on it's way! This morning the one bird had brought a number of backup singers...such a happy sound! I was so excited i jumped up, grabbed my 'in-between-seasons coat', the dogs and went for a walk. Halfway i was caught in a nasty hailstorm!

Disregarding my cold red face from that icy walk i can continue to say...Early birds and early signs of spring need FLOWERS! Come and find spring inspiration below from the talented Dutch craftsman Wouter Dolk, his wallpaper, perfume bottles and vases.

Good things come from Canada! For some time i strongly admire Calgary based Janine van Gool building an empire around her beautiful creative magazine UPPERCASE. Every issue bursts with ideas from numerous inspiring & fabulous people. The magazines are a true collector's item! The 1st 2013 issue will soon be on the mat!

For those of you worrying...she was not lit and sent off to the moon on New Year's eve! it's just her favourite party costume..

SAY YES TO COPPER!

My handmade Xmas decoration is up on the wall! and as i mentioned to you before i worked with copper accents this year. The bamboo sticks are borrowed from my vegetable garden. I wrapped them with copper strings full of tiny little bells from HEMA.

STARRY XMAS!

Yes we're getting there..Christmas 2012 is not far from happening! This year no tree but STARS!! last year was full of colour and fluorescent accents. This year i will go for black & white versus natural & copper. Below some inspiration to get eager!

SARAH LUND

The popular Danish crime series, The Killing, has had a ferm grip on me for it clings you to the screen! Two things struck me when i watched a few episodes: the character of Sarah Lund.... and the jumper!. Find out yourself what you think about the character, i just would like to mention it's an interesting way of marketing a handknitted jumper. 

In an interview with 'the Guardian' Sofie (Sarah Lund) stated that she picked out this jumper because it's unpolice-like, and it does not add to her sexuality. Quite a new approach to feminine police women in series! The jumper becoming a bespoken item and international FASHION HIT was not foreseen i suppose..

Note: the knit is traditional Faroese. The Faroe Islands lie to the north of Schotland an archipelago under the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Denmark. The undyed organic wool comes from hardy northern black and white sheep. It's lightweight, breathable and hypoallergenic. Who would've thought!

FLEXIBLE OFFICE TABLE

Mixing natural materials in one's interior gives a real sense of warmth. Since i started my own design studio i enjoy being able to work in different environments. In my home i love to work from my studio on the 2nd floor, where i have a lot of inspiration gathered around me. Working from my living room, with the fireplace lit in the wintertime and the big doors open in summertime, it's good to distance myself from the many books and items around me to be able to reflect on things.
One of my friends has started up his own furniture company and i was lucky to work with him designing my own multi-functional wooden table. In this table i can easily plug more than one laptop but important is the fact that everything can be quickly stalled in the compartments underneath to make room for lunch, tea, meetings & dinner!
