STRONG MIND SET CAN DO TRICKS

As you go along in a new work project your mind will soon be set in a certain way. Everything around you that 'touches' this 'job theme' suddenly reveals to you...(so it seems). A magic sort of thing that comes as a little surprise for me every time... ( are you with me still? otherwise go see my earlier posts on travel & fun related to my current work :)I just found these funny sketches made by Oliver Jeffers!

CRUMPLED CITY MAPS

A great thought when it comes to designing maps has come to mind of Emanuele Pizzolorusso. The folding op maps has always been 'a thing of patience'.. but when you've been walking around a foreign town in circles for too long one can loose patience bit by bit, and the unfolding and folding of maps becomes less attractive..to say the least.
I haven't even mentioned the factor of the elements yet (rain-snow). Imagine...the original folds in your paper map become vague and the map is not only tearing but seems to slowly melt in your hands.
Now these maps below are made of a creasy waterproof material that does not tear. It's soft, lightweight and indestructable! Once you're done finding your way, it can be crumpled into a ball and be stuffed into your pocket or bag.

BEEN BUSY!

Been extremely busy working on the concept project for the traveling service shops. There's so many things involved in making it easy for people to travel, once you start to think about it a whole new world will open up for you i am sure! I am basically researching practicalities and safety equipment for travelers. But on my blog i will show you some clever & fun designs that caught my eye during the process! This eco-friendly recyclable, water resistant Tyvek microfibre wallet (ooohps..a mouthfull) is handy for keeping your plane ticket from tearing and can keeps your money and cards at the same time.

ZIGZAG CITY GUIDES

While lot's of people are enjoying their summer holiday i am happy to work on a great new project ABOUT people going on holidays!(developing concepts for the travel service industry). During my research i come across many interesting ideas. Have a look at this city map for kids! designed by Alana Zawojski, beautifully illustrated by Jade Cardinally.
It's an interactive way for children to explore famous places and to help the family navigate. This fun way of learning helps these valuable memories to stick much better too. Way to go Alana!
The little map is handsfree, it can be worn around the neck with a cord.
Fully equipped with camera and urban outdoor gear, these two characters guide the little ones through town
giving useful background information about the sights

UN BON SOUVENIR

Last year's holiday in the French countryside was perfect. Although the inside of this authentic farmhouse was still being rebuilt from scratch, people were welcome to stay. The guests room was still 'raw' with occasional excess to the sky through the old roof, but the nearby vintage stores & markets had contributed to a very nice and cosy interior. The bed was absolutely safe from rain as it was situated under the wooden storage place. The stay resulted in a beautiful romantic experience!

100th POST

ROBBIE

Robbie is the new neighbour of Bobje and Nando, he's very small and his main concern is too stay out of the way of B&N as he risks to be eaten alive. However we are working on this project for all to live peacefully together in this neighbourhood.
Cute little tiger isn't he? The bottom one is his little sister, her nickname should be 'JANE' as she is always on the lookout for 'TARZAN' in the planters on the window-sill.

NORTH SEA DIVING

These past two days have been real hot and we were all forced to take a dip into the North sea. Bobje is an experienced swimmer... the way he challenges the waves..he has no fear. Nando had his very first lesson..he paddles a bit in the undeep parts where his short paws still reach the ground..he's not too sure about all this cooling down yet.

SLEEPING MASK

Funny 'pixel sleeping masks' by studiobo from Thailand. I think these are great for kids but it makes me realize that it would not hurt to re-design the ones for adults as well. I imagine a collection of different models (pure luxury thinking) for people to distinguish themselves a bit while they are sleeping in the plane.. ;D

CHRISTOPHE GUBERAN

The inkjet printer has been adapted by Ecole Cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ECAL)student Christophe Guberan, to print patterns that transform into 3D shapes. This hydro-fold process is caused by printing with ink that consists of both ink and water.
After the paper has been printed the paper folds automatically along the wet lines. Brilliant!
